What is music bingo?

Music bingo is regular bingo with one swap: the squares hold song titles instead of numbers. The DJ plays the playlist and advances tracks; each new song is the call, and anyone whose card has that song marks the square. First player to complete the round's pattern shouts bingo. The point is shared listening and fun together, not guessing. Players who don't know a song can ask a neighbor or use Shazam.

How a game actually plays

  1. 1.Choose how to host: printable PDF cards players mark by hand, or a live room where players scan a QR code and get a virtual card on their phone. Every membership includes both.
  2. 2.Pick your playlist and lock the song list before you print or generate cards. Every card draws from the same list in a different order.
  3. 3.Announce the round pattern out loud before you press play, and repeat it once mid-round.
  4. 4.Open the playlist in Spotify and press play. Nobody calls out titles; each new song is the call.
  5. 5.Advance to the next track at the hook, or once the title is sung. Faster skips make a faster game.
  6. 6.When someone shouts bingo, pause the music and check their card against the songs you actually played before you call a winner.
  7. 7.Clear the cards or start a new round pattern, and go again.

Printable vs live music bingo cards

Pick your card mode before you host. Every Bingo Singo membership includes both; the playlist and listening game are the same either way.

Printable PDF cards

Generate cards from your song list, download the PDF, and print it yourself. Guests mark song titles on paper with a pen or dauber. No player phones are needed; Bingo Singo does not ship physical cards.

Live QR rooms on phones

Open a live room and display its QR code. Guests join in their phone browser and mark virtual cards without installing an app. The host reviews bingo claims and verifies each card against the tracks played.

The four classic rounds

Criss or Cross

Five squares across the center row or five squares down the center column. Either line wins; players do not need both.

Diagonal

Five squares corner to corner through the free space. Complete either diagonal to claim bingo.

Four Corners

The four outside corner squares only. It ignores the middle of the card entirely, so it can end fast or drag, good as a change of pace.

Blackout

Every square on the card. It takes longer than the line and corner patterns because players need every song title on their card to be played.

What you need to run one

How long should the DJ play each song?

There is no fixed clip length. Play to the hook or until the title is sung or mentioned, then advance to the next track in Spotify. Faster advances mean faster gameplay. Let the room listen together; there is no need to announce titles or turn it into a guessing contest. A player who does not know a track can ask a neighbor or use Shazam. Bingo Singo does not play the music or announce songs for the DJ.

How do you check a claimed bingo?

Pause the playlist and compare the claimed pattern with the song titles on the player's card and your record of the tracks you actually played. For printable cards, inspect the paper card; for a live room, review the claim from the host screen. The DJ must verify every bingo before calling a winner. A claim alone is not a verified win.

Music bingo at a bar vs. at home

At home you can get away with a phone speaker, four cards and a bowl of prizes. In a venue the two things that break a night are card logistics and disputed wins: printing and distributing enough unique cards, then proving a card is genuinely full when the room is loud. Give yourself more songs than you think you need, keep a visible list of everything played, and always verify a card before you hand over a prize.

Do you need a music licence?

Playing recorded music in a public or commercial space usually requires a public performance licence, handled by your local collecting societies. Most bars and venues already hold one, check with the venue before you book the night. Private parties in a home generally don't need one. Rules vary by country, so confirm locally rather than taking a rule of thumb.

Host your own with Bingo Singo

Bingo Singo is browser-based music bingo software, not an event or DJ service. Create a live room using an available song list. Players scan a QR code and get a virtual card on their phone. Manage rounds and review claims from your host screen; the DJ must verify every winner. The free plan covers one 5-player room. Paid subscriptions provide software access with higher room and player limits. Music playback and any necessary licences are separate. We provide curated song lists across many genres, and you use your own Spotify account to access them. Play with virtual cards on phones, or download printable PDF cards from your account.
